The Happiness Project

Mental Health blog, focused on self-care and learning to love your life!

Hey, all you cool cats and kittens!

I’m sorry, I had too. We all know that Carole Baskin killed her husband. 😂

Anyway! I have some really fun news. After a couple of years of having this blog, I have really begun to learn more about the world of blogging and honestly myself, as cheesy as that sounds. When I started this blog, I was hesitant to even try, because I didn’t think I had the knowledge or the power to create anything worthwhile. It has DEFINITELY been trial and error, but I have grown to love my blog and it keeps me busy.

However, I have started to notice some negative thoughts in my mind. When I started, I accepted the fact that

1. I won’t be great at this out of the gate, and

2. This was just a hobby, nothing more.

However, the more I learned, the more I wanted out of it. I even got free books sent to me for book reviews! How awesome is that? I started to do more and more book posts, reading more than I have in years. I expanded into some fun posts that include book suggestions for certain holidays or times of the year or like my ever-popular post of bath products because baths and books totally go together. People seemed to like these kinds of posts, so I’ve got a few more in the works!

However, it has been a couple of years now, and I feel like I’m progressing really slowly. Not that I’m not grateful for the followers I have so far (You guys rock!) but the more work I’ve put into the blog, the more it started to feel like another job and less like a fun hobby. And if you work really hard for something, you want to see some kind of reward out of it, right? The thought of turning this into something that I really get into and possibly even make money off of it started to turn the wheels in my head. It seemed though, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t really get the hang of it. I did all the social media, paid for advertising, tried to engage with the blogging community, etc. Eventually, I’ve come to terms that maybe I need to switch up the kind of blog I have. So ladies and gents, drumroll, please…

I’m going to work on turning this book blog into a lifestyle blog! I’m still working out the kinks, figuring out exactly what I want it to be. I’m excited to try for it though and I want to explore new ways to make it even better. When that stimulus check comes in, I want to look into maybe having a YouTube channel as well, so we will see what the future holds.

Again, I’m so very, very, very grateful for the amount of support I have received over the last few years. It has been so much fun to learn these new skills and meet the awesome people in the blogging community. Here’s to another fantastic year!
